My Moms’ Night Out on the Red Carpet

Wow and wow!  I love this movie. It is funny, it is encouraging, and it is awesome family entertainment.  But what I love most is that this movie celebrates MOMS and the producers, directors, and Provident Films made that very clear at the premiere.  Everywhere you looked on the red carpet, you saw moms—every day, plain old, normal moms!

Ok, so we didn’t look quite as plain as usual and definitely not our normal selves.  We glammed it up as best as we could.  Notice how smooth I got my hair.  It was a combination of effort and the LA air.  Lesson 1: You can have Hollywood hair in dry air!

Now getting the look took some practice. It’s a little different technique than the look we give our kids at home.  Lesson 2: Getting the look is all about positioning.  Dannah Gresh on the left was definitely better at this than Tracey Eyster and me.  Notice the downward tilt of Dannah’s head and sassy hand on hip, with shoulder just so.  I will have to work on it for next time.  I am convinced there are more mom movies to come.  Moms are stars and the world is going to wake up to that next week when Moms’ Night Out hits the theaters.

Silly us, but we love Amy Grant! She’s a star and a cool mom.  This is also a shoe confession.  Low heels can be worn on the red carpet by cool moms only. I made sure mine were Oscar gold.

This is Jennifer—a cool, everyday mom who just happened to win our iMOM contest and got to go to the premiere as a guest of Moms’ Night Out.  She got the treatment—met all the stars, stayed in a four star hotel, and walked down the red carpet because she is a star!  Lesson 3: Moms are winners and 6 moms won this trip as a gift from the movie makers because they love moms—pure awesomeness!

This is Sarah Drew…

photo 2

the star of Moms’ Night Out who plays a mom and actually is a real mom.  What I like most about her is the real part.  Every picture I took of her was real. She makes more faces than I do. You will love every emotion on her face in the movie—panic, guilt, tenderness, shock, quiet reflection, doubt, joy—it is all there to make you laugh and cry.

This is the second time I have met her.  But first or second or third or fourth, she is real and acted like it was the 10th time we had met.  I hugged her and we could be friends.  She is just that cute. Lesson 4: Ask my friend Sarah if I can borrow her lipstick because I could use a little color in this picture.

This is just a cool thing—Sarah has friends and they came to support her.  Her friends are extra cool because they are on Grey’s Anatomy with her but, work or play, friends are friends.  Another confession: I don’t really watch Grey’s but aren’t those two above married on the show? Are they married for real, too? Is this reality TV? I am confused.  And note the sign…I met them by the will call table.  My tickets were delivered to me and they had to go to will call?  Real moms really got the treatment at this premiere. Wait, maybe she is a real mom too…I think that little girl came with them.  Help! Someone please give me the scoop.

This is Jon Erwin on the right, the movie director, a friend, and the real reason we are so excited for this movie. He is using his gifts for great entertainment that we can all get excited about (On the left is my real husband, very cute! And by the way, somebody asked him on the carpet if he was Tom Cruise!!! Really? He didn’t even shave.  How does the guy look so good with so little effort?!).

And this precious thing is Beth, Jon’s real wife and a real mom of three.  The youngest Erwin is just months old and this real mom was enjoying her night out in between running back to the hotel to nurse that little pea pop.  That’s what real moms do on their night out—look beautiful, smile brighter than a star, stand in heels for hours, and in between tenderly care for the precious gifts that make us a mom!

I am getting sappy!

So, we wouldn’t be iMOM if we didn’t celebrate a movie about moms!  I can’t fly you out to LA like we did Jennifer—that contest is over. BUT, we are giving away everything a mom needs for a night out—a different gift every day all week long, until the movie opens in theaters on Friday, May 9th PLUS tickets for your family to GO SEE THE MOVIE!
